Shining a Different Light on Pain with Anodyne and Solaris Therapies

Though the common feeling of “pins and needles” in the hands and feet can be an occasional nuisance for some, millions of individuals struggle with the constant loss of feeling in their hands and feet every day. This condition is known as peripheral neuropathy, and is caused by many different chronic diseases, like diabetes, as well as nutrient deficiencies or physical trauma. To help our patients suffering from this debilitating condition, Great Lakes Caring utilizes Anodyne® and Solaris® Therapies—two separate brands of infrared light therapy.

Anodyne® Therapy is a non-invasive, non-medicinal therapeutic treatment that uses infrared light to treat the painful symptoms resulting from nerve damage by increasing blood flow within a patient’s arms, legs and feet. It is administered in a patient’s home by a Great Lakes Caring physical therapist, which places small pads directly on the patient’s skin. Stretches and exercises are added to augment the therapy process. It involves a varied number of sessions, dependant on a patient’s condition, with each session lasting as little as a half hour and positive results lasting for up to six months after sessions end.

“Our Anodyne® Therapy system represents the latest technique we’re taking to improve the quality of life of our patients,” says Great Lakes Caring CEO, William Deary. “We employ the use of care programs like these to provide health care options for those patients wishing to remain in their own homes and assure a superior level of quality care is always delivered by Great Lakes Caring.”

As a premier brand of infrared light therapy, Solaris® Therapy utilizes a standard light probe and implements three frequencies of ultrasound, seven levels of electro-stimulation and infrared light power up to 7,500 megawatts into a portable-sized package. This makes it a comprehensive therapy device with which our physical therapists can treat patients with a number of different modalities.

“Though our Anodyne® Therapy program meets the needs of the majority of our neuropathy patients, our premium Solaris® Therapy program gives them another extraordinary option to utilize based upon individual patient need,” says Deary. “Delivering two separate brands of infrared light therapy helps distinguish Great Lakes Caring from other providers.”
