Great Lakes Caring Hospice Announces West Bloomfield Township Resident Victoria Jump and Clawson’s Sandy Karls its 2013 Volunteers of the Year
April 2013 National Volunteer Month Honorees
West Bloomfield Township resident Victoria Jump, (left) and Clawson’s Sandy Karls (right) were recently honored with Great Lakes Caring’s Annual Hospice Volunteer of the Year Award.
They volunteer through Great Lakes Caring’s Bingham Farms Branch and visit with patients at several different skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, or in their homes. Combined, they have volunteered over 420 hours within a year visiting with patients, reading to them, recording their life story or helping in the Bingham Farms Administrative Branch. Jennifer Cleary, Bingham Farms branch volunteer coordinator, said “There have been numerous times when Sandy has made a notable impact on patients and families. She also seems to understand her patients and their needs. Victoria is an inspiration and a mentor to our younger volunteers. She makes phone calls to our patients’ caregivers to find out if they need anything from us. They are both an asset to our hospice team. Our hospice clinical team members have told me on numerous occasions how thankful they are to have them as volunteers.” For more information about Great Lakes Caring Hospice or to become a volunteer, visit GreatLakesCaring.com or call 800.311.5365.
