Great Lakes Caring Hospice Announces its 2013 Port Huron Volunteer of the Year Recipient
April 2016 National Volunteer Month Honoree
Port Huron resident Carolyn Crowe, pictured with Toby her therapy dog, was recently honored with Great Lakes Caring’s Annual Hospice Volunteer of the Year Award.
She volunteers through Great Lakes Caring’s Clinton Township Branch and visits with patients at several different skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, wherever a patient calls home. Crowe, a Great Lakes Caring volunteer since 2009, has donated more than 600 hours of her time to visiting patients with Toby. Megan Carolin, Clinton Township branch volunteer coordinator, said “There have been numerous times when Carolyn and Toby have made a notable impact on patients and families. Patients brighten up when they see her walk in with Toby wagging his tail. Carolyn brings smiles to everyone that she and Toby see in the facility. Carolyn serves as an inspiration to all of those around her. Our hospice clinical team members have told me on numerous occasions how thankful they are to have her and Toby on our volunteer team.” For more information about Great Lakes Caring Hospice or to become a volunteer, visit GreatLakesCaring.com or call 586-468-8580.
