Great Lakes Caring Hospice and Home Health Announces the 2013 Essential Piece Awards

March 2013 is National Social Work Month

Great Lakes Caring, one of the most trusted and highest ranked (by medicare.gov) hospice and home health providers in the Midwest, is pleased to announce the 2013 Essential Piece Award honorees for providing quality care to their residents and patients. From more than 18,000 candidates, 27 social workers in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana were chosen for three very important reasons: 1) Their belief in the importance of effective communication between Great Lakes Caring and their facility’s staff; 2) for being mindful of the needs of their residents and the importance of making timely referrals; and 3) for supporting and their understanding of the importance of collaborative care.

“Social workers play a vital role in the screening and admission of applicants to skilled nursing facilities because they provide unique attention to patients' psychosocial as well as medical needs.  It is important to recognize these individuals who are committed to their residents’ best interests,” said Great Lakes Caring Chief Executive Officer William Deary.
This is the second year Great Lakes Caring Hospice and Home Health has recognized outstanding social workers for their excellence and dedication in providing quality care.  To date, 38 Essential Piece Awards have been given out to deserving individuals.
