Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice is Second-Time Winner of Today’s Caregiver Magazine’s 2015 Caregiver Friendly® Award

Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice, one of the largest and most trusted home health and hospice providers in the United States, was presented with the 2015 Caregiver Friendly® Award.

Great Lakes Caring was one of only two companies, nationwide, to receive this award in the services category for its By Your Side℠ Program.  In 2014, the company was one of four national winners for its Care That Never Sleeps℠ Promise.

Caregiver Friendly Awards are presented by Today’s Caregiver magazine, the first national magazine for all family and professional caregivers. The Caregiver Friendly Awards are designed to celebrate products, services, books and media created for the needs of caregivers.

"Our By Your Side Program is a special service available to all of our hospice patients and their families. The program supports the patient and family with caring hospice clinicians.  The model focuses on specific signs and symptoms of patient decline to alert the hospice team members to increase care when end of life is imminent,” says Great Lakes Caring Chief Executive Officer William Deary. “We work to provide increased presence at the bedside when declines are identified, a time when patients and their families need us most.  Our goal is to be present at end of life, to provide comfort to the patient and support to the family," he added.

"The average caregiver is responsible for over $40,000 in health-related expenditures each year, in either personal or directed funds,” Says Gary Barg, Today’s Caregiver magazine’s Editor-in-Chief. "This award is designed to help family caregivers recognize and reward those organizations who will care for them in as committed a manner as they care for their loved ones."

Caregiver Friendly® Awards are presented by Today’s Caregiver magazine to celebrate outstanding books, media, products and services designed with the best interest of the family caregiver in mind.  Today's Caregiver magazine, launched in 1995, is published by Caregiver Media Group, which also produces the Fearless Caregiver Conferences, and The Fearless Caregiver book which teaches caregivers how to become their loved one’s fearless advocates within the health care system.
